Field work:
- Currently researching masculinity and movement in competitive air guitar performance, Germany and Finland.
- Ongoing research into gender and transnationalism in Dominican merengue tipico performance, New York City and Dominican Republic
- Conducted fieldwork on dance and movement in the carnival of Santiago, Dominican Republic, with support from a Nahumck Fellowship (Society for Ethnomusicology) in 2009 (work on this topic began in 2005). Project title: Meaningful Movements: Gender, Politics, and Collective Memory in Dominican Carnival
